Talking The Talk: Let's Get Interactive
Do you know someone who can use their AAC system
beautifully in a structured situation in the classroom or in therapy
- but who doesn't use it in fast paced social situations? This
interactive session will give you skills to support students to use
generative language with their peers. The importance of repetition
with variety will be discussed - and demonstrated! Strategies
outlined will include: barrier communication games, combining core
vocabulary and literacy, and determining authentic purposes for all
practice. Participants will engage in multiple 'try-it' activities
to help learning generalize, just as we hope to make vocabulary
generalize for our AAC users!
Speaker: Dr Caroline Musselwhite
