2027 CONFERENCE POLL

Can you please read through the Conference Theme Overview, then read the below and complete the poll.

In the poll, you are asked to vote for your top 3 picks for the theme, and add any comments about the proposed schedule.

The Committee has proposed the following format for the 2027 Conference: 1 workshop day and 2 conference days. This is 1 day less than Adelaide, but is in keeping with current trends for shorter and more cost-effective conferences. The Committee strongly considered a part-day Sunday, but it was ultimately decided not to propose this for various reasons including cost, travel needs and last-day absenteeism.

 

Thursday 26 August 2027 - Workshop day:

It would include at least two standalone workshops (one in the morning, one in the afternoon), but additional concurrent sessions could be added. The exhibitors would ideally set up in the morning with a view to opening by 1200 (potentially with a sensory-friendly set-up running over the afternoon). 

  • 0900–1200 Morning sessions
  • 1300–1700 Afternoon sessions 
  • 1700–1830 – Welcome drinks/finger food in the expo area (with exhibitors in action), posters display etc. 

 

Friday 27 August 2027 – Conference Day 1:

  • 0730–0845 – Optional breakfast with Speaker
  • 0900–1030 – Plenary (Open, Keynote 1) 
  • 1100–1700 – Breakout sessions
  • 1700 onwards – Informal networking; potentially the AssistiveWare documentary screening

 

Saturday 28 August – Conference Day 2:

  • 0830–1030 – Plenary (Awards, Keynote 2)
  • 1100–1630 – Breakout sessions (Expo pack-up after afternoon tea)
  • 1730–1930+ – Dinner and Close (meals served at 1800, formalities done by 1930, party people kick on). 

 

There will be a drinks package for the Welcome session on the Thursday, but it is proposed to have a cash bar (buy your own) for the Saturday Dinner.

 

Interest could be gauged on hosting a picnic or other activity on the Sunday, but the Committee felt it likely that interstate travellers would probably use Sunday for travel/rest so attendance may not justify the effort – particularly given we will be having a local AAC Awareness Month event not long after.
