Webinar Overview

Language and the correct use of words has always been an area of interest to Lisa, and her understanding of Social Role Valorisation Theory drove this interest into a passion in her early work in disability advocacy on both citizen and systemic advocacy. Lisa sees language and proper labelling as one way of normalising the way disability is seen, and how we can promote positive community engagement. The way the ‘average joe’ interacts with people with disabilities is reflective of how we educate people, and their personal perceptions.

Join Lisa as she talks all things labels and language across generations, and dive into exploring the positive changes, and the not so good changes, from a lived experience perspective.

This webinar will be a thought-provoking discussion on how people self-identify, how different settings affect how people self-identify, and how others use language around the person, and the subconscious impacts that has on humans. This webinar is purely based on Lisa’s perspectives, thoughts, beliefs and life learning, which has led to this perceptive inner dialogue forming the foundations of this webinar. Although there are no direct learning outcomes being delivered in this webinar, many will find it insightful, Lisa tries to deliver little pearls of wisdom throughout all of her presentations and talks. Lisa aims to start conversations with topics often overlooked in this fast paced world, so take an hour out of your day to join us for a conversation.
