Got a Communication Aid - Now What?


AGOSCI is proud to partner with Scope AustraliaBringing you this two-part practical workshop

Develop a practical plan with interactive strategies to support the use of comprehensive communication aids such as multilevel communication books and electronic aids and apps.

This workshop is for any person who is:

  • new to the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • who manages a caseload of current and potential AAC users
  • learning to embrace a comprehensive AAC system
  • who is a member of an AAC user’s support network, and would like to learn ways that support AAC use.

This workshop will cover:

  • The different types of communication aids and their purposes
  • How use comprehensive communication aids effectively
  • Goal-setting for improved AAC use
  • Planning for sustained AAC


Attendance at both live workshop sessions is required.

These sessions will not be recorded.

Complete two tasks in between the first and second workshop and share with the group. Tasks involve:
  1. Trialling the communication aid with an AAC user
  2. Setting a communication goal that utilises AAC strategies

Access to technology to access the workshop via video conference (zoom) is required to attend the workshop.

Session 1:  9th April , 10:00am - 12:30pm 

Session 2:  23rd April, 10:00 - 12:30pm

  • 2 x Live Online Workshops capped at 10 people per group to ensure time for individual participation; And
  • Access to a 1:1 consultation with the workshop facilitator within 6 months of the workshop to discuss your individual needs and questions

About the Presenter:

This workshop is facilitated by Liz Weston

Liz is a speech pathologist who has spent most of her career working with people who experience communication support needs. Liz currently works for the Non-Electronic Communication Aid service in Victoria. Liz’s current areas of focus are working with electronic and non-electronic communication aids, training and capacity building for use of targeted and comprehensive communication aids and        positive behaviour support.

Registration is only confirmed upon full payment of fee. To access discounted rate for members you must be logged into your AGOSCI member account prior to registration. 

  • 100% refund until 30 days before event.
  • 100% refund between 8-29 days before event. 
  • No refunds within 0-7 days of event start date.
